General Tips

PASSPORT

Make sure your passport has at least six months validity and carry additional copies of your passport photo with you in case you need a replacement passport while overseas.

VISA

Check to see if you require visas for the country or countries you are visiting or transiting.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

Take out appropriate travel insurance to cover hospital treatment, medical evacuation and any activities, including adventure sports, in which you plan to participate. A comprehensive travel insurance cover should also include some compensation for flight delay (usually in excess of 8 hours), loss baggages and travel documents.

VACCINATIONS/MEDICATIONS

Check with health professionals for information on recommended vaccinations or other precautions for the destination country and find out about overseas laws on traveling with medicines.

CARRY ON BAGS’

Find out how many ‘carry on bags’ your airline allows – luggage 20” x 15” x 10” is average. Pack essentials such as a toothbrush, clean underwear etc in hand luggage, in case your check in bags get lost. When traveling in winter, do not check in your overcoat!

ECO BAGS’

In this age of saving the environment and the encouragement to use re-cycle bags, many convenient stores and supermarkets are not providing free bags for your purchases. Hence it is handy to have a neat foldable bags with your wherever you go!

WHILE ON BOARD…..

Try to drink plenty of water to avoid becoming dehydrated – the cabins highly pressurized air is very dry. Walk around a little on the plane to help circulation and make the most of any refuel stops for a good stretch.

UPON ARRIVAL…..

Try to be as alert as you can; weary travellers make easy prey for pickpockets etc. And do make sure that any taxi you get into is legitimate.

CAR RENTALS

Apart from hiring a car from a legitimate company, be careful to check the car for dents, scratches etc and insist the rental company makes a written note to confirm. Do not assume on the insurance coverage.

JUST IN CASE!

Photocopies/records of passport, travel documents, credit cards and prescriptions can be very handy in the unforeseen event when new ones are required.
